Using a sketchbook and coloured pencils I copied images of Leonardo Da Vinci’s anatomy and skeleton drawings. I also did some looser pencil sketches on A3 paper – I didn’t want to copy Da Vinci’s work but to put my own mark on my drawing – but as the same time taking the time to explore what is happening in Da Vinci’s sketches. I also did some sketches of my own body in my sketchbook – of my hands and feet looking at structure Measuring digits and looking for foreshortening in my fingers. I also drew my ankle. I really enjoyed this exercise and found it very useful as it made me look more closely at proportions and structure – all useful tools when drawing from life or from the figure.
